The Strength of Our Offense

What is the offense of man against God? He only needs blow on it and it passes away. To us it is an oak. To eternity it is a mist. God’s blows upon the smoke and we see clearly the goodness of His judgments in all things.

Our offense is not hard for God to deal with.

Every tangle of anger deep within our heart, He knows about it. Let’s go to Him and let Him undo the knot. In love He will heal us. He pities us in our uninformed offense.

He says, “Come to Me and I will teach you wisdom.”

O God, how it pains my heart the anger we have against You. If I hadn’t once hated You, perhaps I wouldn’t be able to feel this aching for those who do not know You. I didn’t grow up wanting to be a Christian. Some say they tried You and are now running to the very things You saved me from—the things I swam in to find a golden pearl, only to emerge from the waters wrapped in a sheet of black oil that I could not get off, nor did I want off. Yet You led me to the Pearl. Jesus Christ, I saw You. You healed my will so that I no longer loved my black waters.

Let your kindness heal those who oppose You. Let them see Your glory, Your love and Your fear. It’s scary how unaware I was of Your greatness. Blindness is real.

Let men see that Your will is not a crooked thing, but the pathway to endless pleasure and holiness.
